*PPPPSSSSST I BOUGHT SOMETHING HUGE!*
Hahah, close friends would be able to guess the details in an instant...

HAPPY :)
PROUD:)

All by myself!
Blood, Sweat, Tears
as always thanks to mum & dad for never ever being charitable
*sticks tongue out

ps: When you see a sexy mama in her swanky R.E.D/ B.L.A.C.K (haven't decided) bad ass ride with sparkly sequined fluffy pillows and shaking my booty to tunes on my way to yoga class. HONK! IT'S PROBABLY ME :) TeeHeeHee... Ok Ok, I'm going to study now! Mwwwaaaaah mwwwah!

This is for the bimbos disguised as nerds that scare the crap out of men daily with their Sasha Fierce! LOVE THESE LOOKS! Perfect for the 'FEMALE ENGINEER' that still wants to keep professional and gorgeous while strutting her stuff around campus/ Very Blair-ish/ Puuuhreeety. Wish Msians were more expressive with their wardrobe... remember you are fabulous! THINK! Is your campus wardrobe a bore?

* Day 2.5 Ayuthaya Thailand *

I'm 'busy' with exam preparation and all *well, here's how it's going... I snored for the past 12 hours and hell, it felt so good. Now I'm screwed because that leaves me one day of cramming into my teeny tiny brain. These are the rest of the historic sites in Ayuthaya! A feast for the eyes in real life :)

You'd think that eventually one will get bored of the same old red bricks in a row but you just don't! It's a marvel and a learning experience. We thought it was all 'waaaaaa...' until we got to UNESCO'S Heritage Site in Sukothai... NOW THAT'S LIKE STEPPING INTO ANOTHER WORLD!

pps: Okay, to answer the never ending question of 'You got a lot of money ah? Travel like crazy!'. Well, the key is remove comfort and with will power plus stamina, travelling can be extremely cheap. It also helps when you're an engineering female duo with mathematical brilliance that comes by sticking together as we count each penny :)) My 9 day Thailand trip costs about rm400 ++ minus flight which was about rm140. Don't tell me you can't afford that when you drive that swanky car and swish your high end phone. The key is admitting to yourself you've chosen to live a boring life not the fact you haven't got the dough $! It's not wrong, I'm no where close to being rich either... just I have different priorities when it comes to spending my salary :P

* Why? *
One of my oldest friends once said to me that when she sees me with my nose stuck between a book attempting to study, I seem like an entirely different person. She once spied on me from across the classroom window.

Why?
I tried to sleep last night and its been two days since I've slept, yet I couldn't fall asleep. On the outside, I'm just a girl. On the inside, I know I wear the pants in this family. Soon, I will be... not in the traditional sense, the man of the house. The burden of keeping the quality life the same stands on my shoulders. It keeps me in check each and every day. It isn't just an education to me. It's the key to making sure the older and newer generation of my family will at least have a choice in life. Funny, Dad says its the Ceylonese way. The oldest always is there, for all needs. There should never be a situation where our greatest potential isn't realised. The responsibility will never fade. Being selfish isn't an option. Will I? Won't I? Runs in my head in a loop.

You...you... and you... asks me 'Buy a car, find a man, buy a house, settle down, get babies like all women'. Will you be there when all things material is needed? Will you stand up and toss money with no strings attached? Well, there's your answer... I WILL HAVE IT! There is no such thing as they both cannot be done! WOMEN OF MY FAMILY DID IT! SO WILL I! I just need time. Be by my side or not... appriciate it or not... average isn't an option... I will achieve it.

*update* : Oh my god... glorious sleep does wonders... yummylicious sleep for a whole day. Gambateh! The stress is mounting... I'm feeling woozy... a lil touch of manic fright. WISH ME LUCK! Ends 3rd May! SEE U THEN! Muaaaaahhh

* The return of curves *
* WARNING : EXTREME GIRL TALK! *

If you grew up in the late 90's / early 00's... you'd share my pain. That was the era of what I'd call as 'skank-dom'. Damn the churning of Hollywood/Popstar clones! Even the world of Bollywood/Kollywood/Mollywood were bulking under the pressure to be trimmer/ the straight mop hair. It's the worst thing for a woman like me with curves... we're the ones with the 50's pin up model physiques! Woohoo Marilyn Monroe... blurgh Kate Moss! We've got hips, boobs and small waists! Damn my sexy Indian heritage!

Clothes never fit well... the hips may fit but the waist was always too big! Most times, my waist may fit but then the zip wouldn't go further up my boobs! Girls were constantly in thongs and low waisted/lemme show ya ma crack jeans... cropped/lemme show ya ma belly with or without a muffin top... hair straight and as flat as it can be... Going out? Just throw on a spaghetti/halter top... I mean come on! My dad would kick my arse and its senseless need to fit into those 'hip' low slung jeans out to the curb for indecent crack exposure! Either way, I always try to stick with the principle of being a L.A.D.Y!

Growing up in PeeJay/fashion central... a girl learns that fashion is never 'skanky'! I love my girlfriends and have never dressed for the purpose of luring men in! I always found a way to look reasonably fashionable in those times... the basic denim miniskirts... many coloured lycra tees... flowy skirts... the basic denim jeans. THE BEST THING ABOUT BEING A YOUNG WOMAN TODAY IS WITNESSING THE RETURN OF CURVES!

Whoopiieeedeedooodah! The fashion tide is shifting! Clothes today actually accentuate the boobies and the booty! Aaaaah, the era of sexy high waisted skirts and satin ruffled tops! Ruffles are everywhere! The flirty dresses! OMG THE DRESSES!!! Bubble/ Ruffle/ Toga... choices are endless! The return of corsets and vests help women with smaller waists look absolutely sinfully curvy! The best thing is the belt rage! Oh, just perfect for the clothes that need a snug fit. Belts make everything look oh so good :) CURLY WAVY FLUFFY HAIR IS IN!!!

Well, I just wanted to say... I'm so glad to be alive... feminity has returned! Looking like a woman is cool! I don't have to look like a hipless, flat chested boy no longer! I mean for god sakes... I was born this way and I love the way I look! I am now 'in' and no longer just the girl that wishes to cover up! I never was the average just throw on a top and jeans kinda girl. Aaaaah, just keep me away from the endless glorious online shopping sites :P

ps: It's super sweet that you girls feel inspired to wear something besides the average t-shirt and jeans to engineering school! Hehehe, toss on a bright coloured skirt and scare the crap out of the boys in class tomorrow! My tips are invest in vintage belts and chunky necklaces... makes any outfit fit well and pop. Try as you may to keep a low profile, you'd shine! Many thanks for visiting my bloggie :)

* Pappa Rich Kopitiam *
It's been a long night and all I want to do is come home and get snug as a bun under my blankie. There I was, all ready in my pink leopard print peejays... just about to hop into bed... 'Dum taadaadiidaadii' my fon rings and the Shermanator (so skinny and yet the porky-est person I know) says 'You... me... fooooood'.

Obviously, this means ringing in the notorious Poopster (it's like people don't know he's evil on the inside... seems like I'm the only one that sees it) along for the ride! We eat, laugh, sniff the flu, slurp and catch up :)

ps: My ultimate fave coffee ever *for now is definitely the Hazelnut Coffee at Pappa Rich. So thick, rich and yummy. A definite order for all coffee-aholics!

*Day 2.4 Ayuthaya Thailand - Elephant Sanctuary *

I once watched this documentary with mum/Amma *yeah yeah ,my family actually enjoys the discovery channel :P The documentary was on elephants in India and how they were being abused for commercial use such as temple 'blessings', 'holy' rides and basically all ways one can think of to make money out of an animal so majestic.

It's like watching a comic strip... wait for the nose... nyam, banana gone!

I hate putting Snuffles on a leach... he's very much like me... pretty much the only living being that can keep up with my level of enthusiasm :)) So, it was gut wrenching to see that the elephants in India were caged/leached. They say in the documentary that these animals are now retaliating against their owners! Such huge mammals... they stomp and fling these humans due to fustration!

So, we were super happy to see that the Thais, at least in Ayuthaya treat these magnificent animals with so much love and respect. There is no feeling of ownership. The elephants seem happy with all the attention, they walk free during rides with people. I then understood why the Buddists there worship the Hindu Lord Ganesha as well. Me and BooBoo couldn't afford to pay for rides or to feed them. They were so gracious to let us do it for free when we told them we were students! The elephants there are genuinely happy. They a re so sweet and playful. Their trunks were wet as they tried to grab the bananas from our hands! Another experience for life!

ps: Sometimes, I feel Hinduism is an extremely well oiled money making machine (yes, not just this religion)... everyone wants to throw a 'feed orphans' or the ever popular donate 'temple funds' charity event. In terms of the religion itself, PEOPLE DON'T QUESTION IT! (Sorry... I really cannot comprehend how those of my generation are blinded by tradition and don't use their brainy selfs to ever ask 'Why am I doing this?'... 'Why am I marching for Thaipusam?'... 'Why am I chanting mantras?'... ' Is what I'm doing helping me better myself or am I just saying the names of the many Lords we have?') It's become more of a society e vent... 'You going to the temple/event... I'll go too... lets hang, meet girls like our mums, man' rather than something from ones heart. I don't understand because society is more intelligent today than it was years ago and yet the new generation seems to be just as trapped by tradition as their parents are. The small bundle of money doesn't really help because it's a temporary solution! I'm speaking from experience. My family, having done that constantly as children... now see the only permanent solution is to E.D.U.C.A.T.E! That benefits an entire family today and for the future! Most developed countries get it, why can't we jump in the wagon as well eh! Am I rambling?

Always aim at complete harmony of
thought and word and deed.

Mahatma Gandhi

pps: This entry is dedicated to my BFF Lata... my guru on all things Hindu... elephant stalker... I wished she was there as I wiped elephant snot off my hands!

* Day 2.3 Ayuthaya Thailand - Wat Gudidao *

We proceed to Wat Gudidao to experience the ruins of a once great kingdom. All that is left are the pillars that were once holding the great hall of the ancient kings of Ayuthaya.

FYI: Just to get these shots... we proceed to put our muscles to the test... YOGA POWER! We hop on each other... giving boosts... scraped some skin off... I have an uber cool scar on my arm... now for the perfect shot!

The remains you see below are what's left of the stupa/pagoda *bell shaped symbol of Buddism. Clearly the top half has slowly faded to dust. The common theme as one proceeds through Ayuthaya is HOW SMALL PEOPLE DREAM THESE DAYS! We seem so content with normality. Just being average. In fact being average is sooo normal, dreaming big is almost 'weird'. For God sakes, look at the huge architecture built by tiny Thais. If the pyramids were possible... I can shoot for the stars! CONSTANTLY INSPIRED... THE BEST REASON TO TRAVEL!

Optimism: The doctrine, or belief,

that everything is beautiful,

including what is ugly, everything good,

especially the bad, and everything right that is wrong.
Ambrose Bierce

psssst: Elephant sanctuary next entry!

Tip: Bring a backpack along when travelling across mid Thailand... the weather is Hot Hot Hot! In terms of what's suitable to wear... anything that covers up skin because most sites have religious elements so respect is expected. Lastly, a whole lot of enthusiasm and stamina!

* Rejection - oh so bitter *
So I'm applying for my further studies... Thing is, I need to already have a lecturer willing to let me leech of him/her as my supervisor. Some good response... Some just plain rude... 'Please deal directly with the admin'. Hmph... people have become robots.

I is think you no understand English or any form of basic human communicaton! I no comprende! Don't you want to know who your potential student will be? Shouldn't I see your face before we spend 3 years together? The irony is the more research I do on Universities, the more I realise Malaysia isn't half bad :)) Some ways, I appriciate Malaysian education because there is no superiority when it comes to communication between students and lecturers. Secondly, we can bloody afford it at least! It's the admission that is the pickle.

Can't say I didn't anticipate the fact that engineers prefer the companion of their PCs as compared to real people... ooooh God forbid you have to speak to a... Wait for it... H.U.M.A.N... thus NUS tag line exists 'Why are you here? Everything is online!'

I look into the beyond and try to remember why
this extremely impersonal, with the least fun people,
unfeeling field was my choice
in the first place years ago

I swear, I really feel like Elle in Legally Blonde
There are like 1% female lecturers for engineering

"Zig when others Zag."
- Marty Neumeier -

I remember why... it's because
knowing how the world works is awesome!

*update* : I 'marah-ed' the lecturer for telling me to deal with admin. I wrote in the most polite manner that aren't I supposed deal directly with lecturers to get someone to list down in my application? Hahah...he replied...yes, he will forward my message to other lecturers too :)) Teeheehee :P But really, some lecturers are so nice 'It would be a pleasure to work with you'... with helpful tips too... warms my heart *big cheesy grin*

* DuDuButt & Pals - Pasta Zanmai / Pick & Brew *

We (WS, DuDu, Ltt, YY, Maggie & me ) head to 1U to celebrate the Bday of the royal twins... Le DuDu and Princess Wai San! Lunch at Pasta Zanmai and I dare say the food is pretty good. Though Yi Fen keeps yelling 'Don't pollute the taste with sauce! Eat the damn thing as it is!'... I especially loves their roasted sesame seeds that came with meals.

Yeap, the people I spent a whole 4 years with... day after day... the same old faces... Thing is, I NEVER EVER GOT BORED OF EM :))

They say show me who your friends are, I'll tell you who you are. Well, clearly I chose well :) Actually to tell you the truth, they didn't give me much choice :)) Seriously, everyone is getting prettier... DuDu is specs-less, Ltt is so girly now, WS & Maggie didn't think two of them could get better looking, YY has fab make up skills!

I was having lunch with SheWhoIsGayAndMighty and one common theme that resonated all through our Uni lives... I always got 'evil' looks from the 'brown' community for not being 'brown' enough. Can you imagine, in my industrial training they called me 'Chinese Brinjal' behind my back! Sorry... I come from a world where we regard people by character not skin and what can I say but I refuse to limit myself to a tiny bubble!
It's just my choice of friends are of those with best intentions and good influences! I'm a lazy arse and my friends are those that push me to better myself. I'm not friends with you because of your personality, maybe we don't share similar priorities. Doesn't make me any less of an Indian because I love Chinese food, love eating nasi lemak for breakfast or have special Cantonese deciphering skills *hmph. IT JUST MAKES ME MALAYSIAN! Bah, TAKE THAT!

I'd like to thank Le DuDu/Wai San/Now Lei Teen too for all the times for the past 7 years for picking me up from Cyberia/ Hostel/ Lord Knows Where Else... and dropping me off at Class/ Cyberia/ Hostel/ IOI Mall/ Alamanda/ Anywhere with food/ Lord Knows Where Else without the slightest grumble. Once again, DuDu for dropping me off at UM at night in the rain though she was blind as a bat in terms of where she was driving at.

Now, ask me again why NERDS RULE!

ps: Can you believe the power of shopping with the right buddy... I've been hunting for basic Lycra tees for nearly a year! In minutes, I find it thanks to my 'Funky tops' buddy, Yi Fen :)) Some more... buy two for one! RM10 voucher too! Head on over to Ruffey, New Wing. Yum, glamourous purple and all natural teal.

Quote of the day: We're all stuffed in the loo

Snoopy/Prem: What do u guys think of me getting highlights for my hair? I'm scared I'll look too bimbo-tic!

Lei Teen: I don't think that's possible *with the most evil smirk

Snoopy/Prem: Right, guess I'm already way past the bimbo threshold to be saved :P

* Bangkok Expresso *

Since I've now moved to work smack in the middle of KL, my cousin sis, Poops works as a doctor at the building on the same road as mine! I meet Rupster, we head to The Weld for delish food at Bangkok Expresso.

We aren't exactly the hugest family but one thing that keeps our relationship more like siblings than cousins is that we've all grown up under one roof! My grandma's house was the place we all gathered until we were adults. What I can say is the biggest difference for a smaller close knit family like ours is... the influence we've had from our older cousins. Bavani has always been the older sister I've never had. Sex talk? Her... Boy talk? Her... The Importance of Education? Her... Saving and Finances? Her. Always the guiding force for the rest of us girls. She's been the typical overachiever... best older sibling role model a girl could ever ask for.

I admit... I LOVE THAI FOOD! Part of the reason is having tasted so much variety during my stays in Thailand. I know Poops lives for Pad Thai (glass noodles) so it was the puuurfect location.

The food was fantastic. My recommended dishes would be the Green Curry, Pandan Chicken, Steamed Fish and Tauhu with spicy sos. The price a little on the obscene side. The dessert was crap though so stick to the main dishes :)

Interesting moment of the day... like when we were kids, we tag along to Poops office and go 'ooooh...aaaah' at all her medical stuff. Once lunch time was up, Rupster and me head to the highest floor of The Weld to have one of the best teh tarik I've had at Chawan. There we were spilling life updates... the waitress comes to me and says 'Awak sangat sweet la'... I blush and go 'Thank you'... we go on talking... next, she comes over and passes me a piece of paper....OBSERVE :))

ps: Maybe the perfect Mr.Premeela is the teh tarik man? Heheh! Another piece to add to my collection and go 'Those were the days' when I'm 60 years old :P

pps: Today marks a historic day for the Kandiahs of Jalan Ipoh... I know it says no cams...I only noticed it after taking the shot! *sniff sniff... super proud... the next generation... I hope she achieves all her dreams!

* Disney Princess Wishes on Ice *
I know this is a little late but... I'VE ONLY JUST GOT TIME TO BREATHE :P Phew, the semester is over and finals are here :'(

OMG... The show was fantastic! I mean I knew I had to wear a dress but I didn't expect 75% of the crowd to be pink... YES, PINK! Little princesses everywhere... they were so adorable.

Erm, I actually felt underdressed,the lil girls were so sparkly!
Dress: Black halter dress with white satin bow from Khao San Road, Bangkok
paired with sheer black shawl

The show comprises of the 7 Princesses and well, what would a Disney cartoon be without their loyal Prince. The Princesses were Snow White, Mulan, Ariel of Little Mermaid, Jasmine of Aladdin, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella and Belle of Beauty and the Beast.

I swear, I have a hypothesis... Disney has ruined all girls of my generation with promises of 'SOME DAY MY PRINCE WILL COME' @ Snow White. RIGHT?!?! We've grown up hoping for a fabulous singing, horse riding, dragon slaying, fluffy shiny haired, tight pants, saves us from the wicked witch, pumpkin coach, ballroom/bollywood dancing, treats us like the princess we are kind of man. It's a shame because there aren't many of them around... but the rare species still lives amongst us :) I've met a few in my days... especially my date for the night! D.A.D / Appa :)) Betcha didn't see that coming!

Off to Cyber to fetch BooBoo and tea/dinner/supper at Hassans ( her show was on the Sunday, we went on Friday ) Grrr... *wipes drool... all I could think of at the end of the show was... How the hell can I snag Aladdin's phone number :P

ps: Again, thank you to Candyman/the biggest super cool nerd I know with the hugest brains for the FREE tickets. Philharmonic was a lil less sparkle but the pianist was absolutely filled to the brim with passion. Once again, free VIP seats thanks to Kuhan's pal. Phew, it was one fantastic weekend *super smile.

* Snarf Arf Ruff - Doggie Shower Day *
I never in my wildest dreams thought I'd land a super sexy mutt like Snuffles! Yeah, he totally was Dalmation number 98 in the 101 Dalmations movie! What you don't believe me? He's the son my mum has always dreamt of :))

Can you believe Snuffles is sooooo super popular that HE WAS REMEMBERED ALL THE WAY IN SPORE! We bumped into an auntie, helped her with her baggies, she says 'Girls, where are you both from?' Blah blah blah... turns out she used to live on our road! She remembers Snuffles 'Wah, very cute boy'... NOT US!

psssst: Tiny hint... SIR SNUGGLELOT NO LIKEY BATH!
Thanks to J&J - no tears :P
Snuffles was white and smelt like honey
Yes, he whined like a BIG BABY

Not a single doggie smile until we set him free!

*Money money money -If I was a rich girl...na nan na nan na*
She says to me 'Prem, wonder where we'd be if we had rich parents?'

I reply with giggles 'With brains like ours, effort like ours, sleepless nights like ours... Oxford, Yale, MIT... who knows?'

Hmph, Life's a bitch like that. Dear spoilt brats, I DON'T even mean filthy rich, those capable of the occasional shopping trip... when thou hast money... sharpen thy brain and put it to good use. Thou shan't buy degrees. Thou will study hard and gain a quality education because YOU FREAKING CAN! It's just horrible when one looks around and sees kids that can afford it or at least snag a scholarship/ loan refuse to grab the opportunity to be a great student in university. Try as you may to redeem yourself by working hard in ones career, the chance for glory is so much harder. The moment has passed you by. Don't screw it up! Don't live in a bubble, broaden your horizons! Invent the next big thing! Refuse to work in tiny cubicles! Be great!

It sucks big time to have the alternative... got the brains *not genius, but good enough to gain admission at least... now where do I get the money? Why should I have to maintain multiple jobs? I laugh when people say 'Oh, I come home so late from work... deadlines, projects you know... I have a REAL job'... hah, try working all day then staying awake all night to study and STILL have an extremely active social life with an average sleep period of 4 hours daily. Why should I have to count every dollar? Why can't I take the year off and tour the world? I wish I was spoonfed like you! I wish my dad owned a company so I can sit on my fat arse and still have a job! I wish I didn't have to table sleep! I wish I had the luxury of zapping the credit card at will! WHY SHOULD I NOT HAVE THE BLOODY LUXURY OF MAKING MY MARK IN THE WORLD WHEN I HAVE THE POWER TO? I keep telling myself it'll teach me to be strong, like the roaches in a nuclear bomb, I'd rise out of the ashes when the economy is in ruins, money doesn't matter and a brainy dilemma arises :))

I'm not poor, very much blessed... just it's not enough
But yes, it still sucks.
Do I sound bitter?
Just a teeny tiny bit

* Day 2.2 Ayuthaya Thailand *
Next, we head on to a temple solely built by the Chinese in Thailand. It's just wonderful to see the melting pot of culture here. Proof?

The moment one steps in, you're greeted by the Hindu lords! To our surprise, the Thais were very much devoted to Lord Ganesha especially. It was a tad bit of a surprise for me and BooBoo because even though Msia 'claims' to be a multiracial country, we aren't exactly jumping to embrace other religions with open hearts. HOW IS IT THAT OTHER ASIAN COUNTRIES ARE CAPABLE BUT NOT US?

Muahahah, this reminds us of US too :)) We were the ultimate duo as kids. Sneaky was our name. Breaking into the chocolate vault in my parents room was our game!
Here above, we have another Hindu goddess, Kali. Once again, the 7 different poses of Buddha is highlighted.

For those that aren't Hindu, let me explain the adorableness of these mice. You see, Lord Ganesha's 'vehicle' is a mouse named Mushika. Yes, that means he's a man with an elephant head that rides on a mouse. Before you giggle, let me explain WHY? Hinduism suggests that this scuttling creature represents the mind, which has a tendency to dart about, picking up fickle fantasies and devious desires along the way. Ganesha's true wisdom lies in the fact that he is able to control the mouse, to rein it and bring it to rest at his feet. Control over one's mind is thus the ultimate sign of wisdom.

OH GOD, MY EYES... THE GOLD... ALL THAT GOLD! Okay, Buddists use tiny sheets of gold to stick onto the Buddha statue. They say that when you have a health issue, stick the gold paper on that part of the Buddha statue to help relieve you of your suffering.

In the end, we zoomed off to our next spot with the question on our minds 'WHY CAN'T MALAYSIANS GET ALONG?' since I've seen it to be possible in Thailand and Indonesia. Why do we segregate all religions, making sure the world knows each is completely different? Come on lah, God is one. No one's going to hell unless you're the spawn of the Devil himself.

ps: I don't believe 'quiet/dignified/silent/shy/boring/pretentious' characteristics is the way to live life. They are extremely nice to you on the outside... you go like 'awwwww, so sweet'... THEN KAAAAAPOW! They are bitching behind your back. Girls especially. Now they even have blogs to vent their issues. NOT that they are bitching about me but... I'm always surprised to read their posts. Never sincere.

Haih, call me straight, lack of feminine conversational skills, say I have no social graces, I'm frank.... at least with me, what you get is what you see :P Keeps me happy too, not dark & twisty with brooding dislike on the inside. I know my friends are true because they put up with the real me! IF, you don't like me... SAY IT WITH ME... YOU ... CAN... KISS... MY... GOLDEN... BROWN... SHINY... GORGEOUS... BUM!

* Day 2 Ayuthaya Thailand *

We wake up bright and early hoping out tour guide hasn't bailed on us. It's 9am and she's right there waiting with her adorable tuk-tuk. We take a moment to go through all the sites we want to cover by the time the sun sets. IT'S A LOT OF GROUND TO COVER!

We whizz away to our first location, Wat Yai Chai Mongkhol. Blew our heads right off our girly shoulders. I've never felt so tiny... it's all so majestic!

This was the first place we noticed the extreme influence Ceylon (Wooohhooo Ceylonese!... *cough, Malaysia Boleh!) had on the spread of Buddism in Thailand. It was only at the end of the trip did we really know that the two countries had quite the bond :)

There were a ton of tourists and being the charmer I always am... we sneak into a tour group and all the painting, carvings and statues are explained to us in detail for free. Looking the way we do, there wasn't any point trying to blend in :P They let us stay and listen with a smile anyways!

I learnt a lot about the lives of Thai monks. Suprisingly there was a festival being held on that very day to honour one of the temple's most spiritual monk. We stared in awe at ginormous paintings on the wall of the epic battle between Siam and Burma. It explained why the elephants in Thailand were so well treated (hmph, unlike India where they are slaves!)

In the 16th century Siam was conquered by Burma. This statue commemorates the battle in which King Naresuan fought on elephant back against the son of the Burmese king, liberating Siam from the Burmese.

We admired the 7 different poses of Buddha, each delivering a different message. Mind you, traveling around Thailand takes stamina and will! There are a million of stairs to climb, acres of ground to cover and the ability to bend and twist one self to hike up ancient stone rubbles :)

On to the next location!
Would you believe me if I told you it only gets...
grander, bigger and better?
