* Day 1.2 Ayuthaya Thailand *
*Click map for view*

We snore for 5 hours... waking up in between screaming at each other to get our arses up and take a bath! As two siblings who spend nights deriving formulas till the wee hours, we didn't beat ourselves up for spending the first day in Thailand snoring... Ah, glorious sleep!

Finally, awake and starving... we head on down the road in search of local food. Cousin sis, Poops told us that one thing we must try is
GLASS NOODLES, PAD THAI. We walk down the dead road. It was absolutely empty even though it was just 9pm. We find a bunch of stalls by the street corner and proceed to order dinner.

I had the BEST NOODLES EVER! PAD THAI... I LOVED IT SO MUCH, I HAD IT 6 TIMES IN THAILAND! It's a marriage of all flavours, sweet, sour and salty. A tease for your taste buds. YOU MUST TRY IT! It gets better! Everywhere one dines in Thailand, they always serve food with 4 different types of chili mixtures... SLURP... BURP!

BooBoo has delish vegetarian Tom Yum. She drank it up with fragrant rice. She claims it was the best tom yum she's ever had :) It was the middle of the night by the time we finished yapping about and the thought of walking back home was a lil scary. We walk slightly down the road and find this couple driving a Tuk-Tuk. They were so nice and warm. Later we found out it was because they had two daughters themselves!

This family became our tour guides for the next day! Boy, and DID WE HAVE A LIFE CHANGING EXPERIENCE!

ps: I remember as a lil girl looking at pretty women dreaming of one day having long flowy hair and radiant sparkly eyes. The two daughters brought along their Barbie sets and kept staring at me and BooBoo with those big eyes. It was so sweet when the youngest girl said 'We were so pretty like her dolls'... I was like 'Awwww'... Her mum yells '100 Baht for compliment please!'... Hahah... I WILL NEVER... NEVER FORGET THEM :)

*Sneaky*
WARNING: GIRL TALK

I'm very careful in the sense that I give my number to friends that I know well. Most men are gentleman you can trust but there are the tiny few that don't have noble intentions! Being the victim of pervy calls through teenage years has totally taught me and BooBoo the downside of being female. I swear I don't get why some get so obsessive, stalk and terrorize women. If the answer is NO, you don't even really know the girl... maybe in your daydreams ...move on... we just like different flavours... the worlds way of saying 'Not the type you truly want'... nothing personal!

Very surprised... this man, gets my hp number... got the guts to talk to my mum some more pretending to know me personally through UM. Have you met my mum? She's super ferosh! He quizzes my mum on my whereabouts. My mum believing him to be a friend dishes on my plans for the week. I come home from Spore and this guy contacts me. I ask him how he got my number... some nonsense about knowing me in UM and we exchanged numbers *Bah, I will never do that! Sniffed the lie right there and then! Blah blah... goes on few days.

You know what I mean... we all have a threshold where we draw the line saying this one is a big No-No! Thing is, I don't mind... take me to coffee, no problem. Be honest! You like a woman, stand up and ask her out. Why the sneaky fon calls? Why the pretend to be someone else? Obviously, we assume you to be part of the Wacko Jacko men clan! I know it's not easy but if you asked me properly, I may have considered friendship. Argh, I like a man with BALLS! Just be straight forward! Thank you very much!

ps: Just to be clear, most boys are very nice :)) The few are tainted by melodrama :P

pps: OMG, girls... I'm just getting into Samantha Who... fashionistas alert! Such a girly girl show! The wardrobe is super nice. Am loving her short curls with highlights too!

* Orchard Road and Scott Road - Singapore *

Obviously, it's Spore thus we head to Orchard Road for McCafe! Okay fine I admit... some window shopping as well :P How does one get there? There's an MRT station right in the heart of it.
Tips for the poor yet mighty: Buy yourself a tourist day pass ($S 5 ) and use the MRT till your hearts content!

There are two McCafe's but I prefer the one right across Isetan at Shaw House. Its designed in a tier manner where one sits amongst the trees and has a great view of Orchard Road with all its shopaholics bustling about :))

I had the delicious Caramel Frapp... BooBoo has the Double Choc with Oreos Frapp. Mmmmm... delish on this very hot day! You would expect the shopping scene in Spore to slow down due to the recession and all but...NO!!! The road is filled with people clutching a dozen or more shopping bags.

Spanked myself and said...

No, Premeela...

No shopping... it's all from Bangkok anyways :))

Can you believe... on our way home, we were spotted by CLEO magazine, Singapore! They wanted a shot of people with a groovy sense of style *Trust me with parents like ours... STYLE IS IN OUR BLOOD! BooBoo's scarf headband (she wants me to say... her and her scarf) will be appearing in May/June's issue! OMG!

ps: Why did I get a shot of this particular sculpture? It reminds us of well... US! Same sex siblings always have the most fun :P I ALWAYS HAVE A PARTNER IN CRIME! Weeeeeeee!

* Inncrowd Backpackers, Little India, Singapore *

The InnCrowd Backpackers Hostel 2,

73 Dunlop Street,

Historic Little India Conservati,

Singapore

Yes, though me and BooBoo could have easily got a suite in Thailand or better in Indon for RM45 pernight, Spore doesn't come cheap *cough...understatement of the century! This place has a great reputation and is situated in the all famous Little India!

The perks are:

FREE breakfast,

FREE lockers,

FREE internet access,

and FREE guided tours.

It's like going home for me and BooBoo are pretty used to hostel life being an MMUian. We get sexy red sheets and one pillow each. The girls are usually given the bottom bunks. Common bathrooms for all dorm rooms. Extremely clean and hot water is available. 7/11 right next door too!

I slept in the bed bunk between two backpackers, one Taiwanese, one Japanese. It was facinating just listening to their travel log. The Japanese girl has been backpacking across Aussie for 11 months on a quest to learn English! We discussed on all that is Asian and the difference between the cultures of our countries :)

The best part? The whole of Singapore is constantly wired! Wi-Fi anywhere, anytime! FREE! Secure lockers are provided so my lappie was snug and safe while I was out and about :)

It's also the only hostel in Singapore to be appointed an official Singapore Visitor Centre by the Tourism Board. The operators are extremely friendly and helpful. Not a note of sourness at all. I highly recommend it when visiting Singapore!

*Ponders - NUS Singapore*
Funny, I did visit NUS the next day after the concert...
this is how I felt... clearly still high from the fabulous night!
MY EYES ARE STILL TWINKLING :P

Lovers in Japan

Lovers, keep on the road you're on
Runners, until the race is run

Soldiers, you've got to soldier on

Sometimes even right is wrong

They are turning my head out

To see what I'm all about

Keeping my head down
To see what it feels like now
But I have no doubt
One day, we are gonna get out

Verdict: A BIT OF A DOWNER...for a top 20 world ranking university. Automatically assumes I'm an undergraduate :)) I look like a bimbo *I REFUSE TO UGLIFY MYSELF! thus there is no possibility you can lend me your precious lab time to explain the research your lab is doing in the fields I am interested in. Asking me 'What are you actually doing here? Everything is online' shows me what a NERD you people are that has no life but cubicle love. I AM BLOODY THERE TO WITNESS WHAT LIFE THERE WOULD BE LIKE if I chose to spend 4 years of my days there. How does one not care?

The enviroment is a COLD... lonely if you prefer... people sit by themselves, munching on packed lunch in a corner with their BFF's Mr.Laptop/Mrs.PDA/Miss. Handphone... THEY STARE AT US, TRYING TO DECIPHER WHAT'S IN MY HEAD BRINGING ME AND MY GLAM PURPLE RUFFLE TOP + PENCIL SKIRT to NUS... easy to see why so many of their scholars want to kill themselves :( Maybe a top academic enviroment but I believe in developing in character from the people around me as well... NUS: Anti social thus how will I learn and grow as a person? :'( DISSAPOINTED!

Lets see what happens eh...
worked too hard to let it all go to waste!

* COLDPLAY Viva la Vida Tour 2009 Singapore Indoor Stadium *
I didn't know if I'd get tickets, sold out 3 days after its release a month ago. I didn't know if the person I'd be buying it from would show up *Turned out to be a man my Dads age, his wife couldn't come :)) I JUST HOPPED ON A PLANE! Thank my lucky stars, I don't know if it was good karma... BUT I MADE IT! 3 whole hours of COLDPLAY :D

I despise all music that is whiney... darn fluff flakey lovey dovey songs... to me... Love is as Coldplay describes it... fluffy bunny romances never last, oh I love how much strength goes into their description of love *family, friends, country, world, ahem soulmate :) Realest music with the most meaning to be honest!

I LOVE COLDPLAY SO MUCH *Okay, sounding like a groopie :P In high school when the oh so famous 'Yellow' from Parachutes released. They got me though my first year in Engineering with Rush of Blood to the Head! My final year with X & Y. Lastly now, Viva la Vida! Their music, always a great listen with extreme variety but filled with messages one can ponder about for eternity.

I've been to so very many concerts in my lifetime, I've lost count. I've met so many bands *yeah, boyband era! I've never loved anyone as I have Coldplay! Chris Martin and his sexy blond curls and voice like an angel helps as well :))

I arrived just in time. Still in shock that I snagged the premier VIP seats! Thing is, in Malaysia concerts are held as such... the band is a tiny puppet on a stage VIP or not. NOT IN THE SPORE INDOOR STADIUM! CHRIS MARTIN INCHES AWAY FROM ME!!! SERENADES ME LIFE SIZE *Dies of sheer happiness! THEY SOUND EVEN BETTER LIVE! Love the piano solo... so sweet.

Moments to remember, the huge yellow bouncing balloons during Yellow! The part that I knew I was meant to be there was when the paper butterflies were released on the VIP section during Lovers in Japan *I collected em :P CLOCKS!!! JUST LIKE IN THE MUSIC VIDEO! Life in Technicolour was another sweet song. For Speed of Sound, they just hopped off the stage, ran into the cheapest compartment of the stadium and sang acoustic style to the shock of us all!

FIX YOU

When you try your best, but you don't succeed
When you get what you want, but not what you need
When you feel so tired, but you can't sleep
Stuck in reverse

And the tears come streaming down on your face
When you lose something you can't replace
Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you

LIFE IN TECHNICOLOUR ii
*sniff sniff... makes you appriciate life and its glory :P

There's a cold war coming
On the radio I heard
Baby it's a violent world

Oh love don't let me go

Won't you take me where the streetlights glow
I could hear it coming
Like a serenade of sound
Now my feet won't touch the ground

Gravity release me
And dont ever hold me down
Now my feet won't touch the ground.

Would I pay the $$$ and become poor again?

Damn Spore currency exchange!
VIVA LA COLDPLAY! HELL YES!

ONE WORD: MAGNIFICENT!

ps: The crowd was so different. The energy level was wild. People from all around the world flew in. It was about half locals only! Malaysians (Malays have Indon bands, Chinese love Jay Chou, Indians think they are half black hip hoppers) never know rockers like U2, 0asis, Travis, The Verve, Rolling Stones but there I was seated between an Indon girl and an English man discussing rock legends... Come on, rock tells life as it is! * I AM NOW COMPLETE *GINORMOUS SMILE!

Awww come on, you knew I was nuts from the first day you met me didn't you :P

Yeah la... I'm poor... $$$ bye bye...but I know I will regret not having the experience

So far a fabulous trip... collected my ticket... am MRT pro... tomorrow visits NUS and NTU for potential future studies *wipes beads of sweat from fear

Living in Little India... in Youth Hostel... made buddies from all parts of the world!

Tq to those that when I was in doubt was there to say that 'I always get what I want' and supported my crazy intentions :)

Ciao my belles~

*Day 1 Ayuthaya Thailand*
Growing up with the Ramayana and Mahabaratha constantly quoted by all makes one wonder what Ayuthaya must have looked like (well, you see... in these scripts... AYUTHAYA is King Rama's kingdom). I need a moment to say this...

I THOUGHT INDONESIA WAS MARVELOUS...

THAILAND WAS JUST MINDBLOWING!

I mean in a nerdy, I love historical sights kinda way :P
Sometimes I really thank my lucky stars for the life I have
I don't even have a proper job for god sakes
I still can't believe I've been to these places at times
Or done the things that I have
Or met the fabulous people that have taught me lessons along the way

Me and wee lass, BooBoo head on to LCCT to begin our 8 day journey across nothern Thailand! Now, its become a norm... wake up... hop into Air Asia's bus at KL Sentral... then hop onto the other 'bus', the plane obviously.

We land in Bangkok. I was just there a few months ago! I thought that was culture... bah, I didn't see nothing... just a spec of what Thailand had to offer. Grabbing our bags, we rush to the main train station to catch the next train to Ayuthaya.

CLASSIC NATHAN FLY MOMENT:

Prem: Where's the file holding the itinerary we spent days on?

Shal: Er, it's with you?

Prem: Shouts #$^&*^%$#^%^! What do MEAN WITH ME!!! I passed the bloody file you so wanted to carry to you! I TOLD YOU NOT TO CARRY A FILE...Noooo, you wanted to keep it nice n crisp!

Shal: I GAVE IT TO YOU!!!

*

10 mins later

*

Prem: DUMBARSE!

Shal: R-TARD!

Prem: Now our entire trips screwed... all our details are in it! Hotel addresses, Flight tickets, Contact numbers... WE'RE ALL ON OUR OWN NOW

Shal: *mounting excitement... NOW THIS IS BACKPACKING! HELL YEAH!

The train was something out of a 50's movie... I'M NOT KIDDING... the seats were wooden, they rotated front and back as the train moved. I COULD HAVE WALKED FASTER TO AYUTHAYA. What did we gain from this journey? We got to see the beautiful sights of Bangkok as we 'sped' by.

Reaching Ayuthaya, we check into the Baan Suan Guest House (RM25 pernight) ... our nerdy minds are so tuned to memorising, we remembered its name :)) What did we do next?

Prem: Waaa... so nice

Shal: I'm gonna lie down for 5mins... SET YOUR ALARM

Prem: Yeah yeah, I'm not sleeping...

*

5 hours later

*

The night dawns upon us...

WE'RE STILL SLEEPING!

ps: If your wondering if my sis is in training for the role of 'Bat crazy Cat Lady'... yes, she clearly is. We're not related in any way. She's adopted!

* Paris Hilton who? *

Move over Paris, Prem's in town! *I'd just like to take a moment to say I'd gladly assassinate Paris for being a horrible role model to girls and for that god awful song!

I always have a good time... In BooBoo's word 'YOU'RE CRAZY! THE CRAZIEST PERSON I KNOW! NO ONE SHOULD HAVE SUCH GOOD TIMES!' True during normal days... not so true during exam periods :P This weekend, I intend on having a TRIPLE WHAMMY!

Friday: Disney Princess on Ice! - Candyman came through for me!

Saturday: Philharmonic Orchestra - Kuhan got me freebies!

Sunday: Arrived at Spore - Er, donno if its a bus/train/flight trip yet

Monday: COLDPLAY!!!! Breathes in deeply.... COLDPLAY!!!! Pray to all that is supernatural, things go according to plan! I W.I.L.L send Chris Martin a flying smooch! My fave songs... LIVE!!! So happy , me arse can't stay still.

So yeah! Thank you to all the free/discounted tickets :)
MUUUAAAXXX
I'm constantly vibrating with excitement today :P

ps: Weird moment of the day. Coming from a girls school, maybe I should be used to this. Men, I know how to handle them. Thing is, erm... seems to be the rage since Katy Perry's 'Kissed a Girl'... How does one say 'Naahhhiii... NooooOOOooo' with... a touch of 'Really? Me?'... don't want to seem like a phobic... just it's so weird...advances from the similar sex? God, you can't win either way. It will always come out wrong. Haven't got the hang of that one yet. Yikes!

* Male Female - Boy Girl - Man Woman *
The feminist side of me has been burning since I was a wee toddler due to the fact that I was brought up by such independent strong women. My mum, aunts and cousins are pillars of strength. Never the typical brown woman 'Damsel in distress'!I've always known that I had the freedom to reach infinity and beyond! I could venture into whatever field I had the passion for!

I've also always known the life of being 'debt free' is the way to go. I'm a shopaholic, yes... but only if my finances allow me to do so. Buying a car? Nope, not until I can pay cash for a 2nd hand car. House? Haih, haven't figured out how to go debt free on that yet. Masters MEng? Yes, work and pay my fees. Travel? Only once my part time jobs give me enough $$$.

My lunch with Lata & Tumor got my brain juices flowing. We know as a woman of the 21st century, we must earn just as much or more than our male counterparts. Tumor's already beginning her own empire. Lata's worked all around the world gaining experience and savings. Me? A little behind. I need to boost my financial knowledge. I must read more! One plays smart not hard!

I realise having so many male friends, they seem to all fall into the usual 9-5 job. It's because they have the responsibility of being the rock of their own family one day. They must have job security. Whereas, me... I've got the freedom of being a hippie! This has set me free to do whatever I want, whenever I want! In some ways it sucks we get our period every month but life's a peach when you don't have the world screaming 'Be a man! Do the right thing!' :))

ps: I got an email for dozens of engineering 9-5 jobs... it specified 'MALE ONLY'! Argh, I'm a far better engineer than so many men out there! YES,YOU BLOODY WELL KNOW IT TOO! So are many of my girlfriends. Female prejudice at male dominated industries still very much alive. Oh we're feeble creatures with smaller brains eh? So gimme a few years and watch us kick you in the arse with success... WE'RE GOOD LOOKING & SMART! TAKE THAT! WE DON'T WANT YOUR CRAPPY OFFICE JOB! Now pops on my kickass red lipstick that men can't resist... gorgeous *sticks tongue out!

* Day 7 Bandung *

(
As I travel , I love hunting for McCafe's! Yum, they serve delish coffee and pastries perfect for a lady on the go. No where as fabulous as the one in Spore and its pretty small in size too. I wished Mindy was there with me because she loves McCafe oh so much.

Yeah yeah... I iz burnt... I eyes iz wonky... I hair is afro-ish...

colgate smile... still there :P

The two roads you must check out are Jalan Dago and Jalan Riao! They have rows and rows of factory outlets... One walks and walks, it never ends. What I did was, to rent a van and get them to drop me off and pick me up at an arranged time :) Traffic is horrible, the sun is hot hot HOT so pack an umbrella. Its a fabulous place for a girls weekend away *ooooh, yummy durian ice cream!

Now, I've actually reached my shopping threshold *yes, I bloody do have one :P I hop on the express train to Jakarta, Argogede that is pure luxury compared to the 7 hour train ride I had from Jogja to Bandung. One of my most life defining moment, sitting there in the tiny wooden bench all by myself next to a tiny lady... one fan blows for 8 seats (the lady next to the switch turned it off!!!)... people just bring sarongs and proceed to sleep all over the dirty metal floor. They get kicked by passerbys constantly! It was uncomfortable, the people were so poor, I was just trying hard not to appear spoilt. Truly an adventure!

ps: Thing about Indon is, like Msia... there is a huge ginormous difference between city folk and 'kampung' people. The people in Surabaya and Jogja were good natured and hospitable. They lived for the day! Life of culture and family. NOW... I felt the difference the moment I stepped into Bandung and Jakarta. People were cold. They were nice because they expected tips. Things were not worth the money. I got ripped off my $$$ the first cab I got into. I became wonderwoman by the end of the trip refusing to pay more than necessary! I don't think I'd be heading to Bandung anytime soon. I'll shop in Bangkok where I get ripped off but at least the shopping is my kinda funky spot! BANDUNG? Not cheap enough. Filled to the brim with labels. Not much sights. It's not my cup of tea.

* Delicious MidValley*
For Reunion 1... I meet up with Lata and Tumor for lunch before my lecture. We head to Prema's favourite, Delicious introduced by MUA! *my new high waisted pencil skirt got me alotta oooh...aaaahhs :P

Like Gaya, my friendship with these girls are just god sent. They both know me 'the real pig snoring' because they both were my undergrad roomies. We studied our arses off together to become the professionals we are today. We think alike. We're ambitious women of the new century. Yes, you can be a fantastic wife/mother and earn a fabulous career *MUM taught me that! We all enjoy travelling and absorbing all the world has to offer. When I sit with them, I'm no longer 'weird'... they aren't your usual 9-5 workaholics. Thus, united we believe that money should be used to broaden ones perspective! They inspire me. Once again, with friends like that... you're bound to succeed!

ps: It's so funny to look around me and realise that my female engineer buddies are far up the career ladder as compared to their male counterparts. I think its got something to do with the female touch :P Hmmm... I feel a shift in the world.

GIRL POWER!
GGrrrrrRRRR! Roar!

*Day 6 Bandung *

Simple principle... BANDUNG?

SHOPAHOLICS DEN :)

It's also when I realised how into 'Ceylonese' features Indons were!

Seems we've got similar face structures :))

Its like they were in awe

I kept getting marriage proposals :P

The beginnings of my love letter collection as well

Doors flew open for me

Bag always carried for me

I rode the trishaw as often as I could and got honked at constantly by wild Indon men

I SWEAR I'VE NEVER FELT MORE LIKE A CELEBRITY!

It was the same all the way till the end of the trip as I hopped on the plane back to Msia

where men don't carry my books/open doors for me :(

Why did I come back :P

But I swear after travelling, all the compliments...

I can never feel the slightest bit ugly ever again!

I AM GODDESS PREM! Roar...er, miao?

Shopped all day! The best buy... ZARA trench coat + Topshop dresses

ps: Bandung in my honest opinion is for people that are into brands and well thus less unique. You see the same brands from outlet to outlet. I FFFFAAAARRR prefer Bangkok! Funky and Groovy! True style! Bangkok I feel is also far cheaper because one is able to bargain!

* My First Lecture class *

Okay, so I'm supposed to teach an extremely advanced chapter in Antenna Theory to final year Telecommunications Engineering kids. Usually taught by ancient prehistoric lecturers with decades of knowledge stored in their grey beards. Sheesh, I was so nervous I couldn't remember my formulas. All I could think of was what was running across the students minds:

1. Damn, girl got lotsa junk in her trunk *oh my glorious bum
2. Wow, is it really hot up there with the projector light that she's got huge armpit stains?
3. Stttuuuupppiiiddd... R-Tard... she's got it wrong!
4. Hahah, the black marker's rubbed off on her face
5. Lord, she doesn't even know where the switches are!
6. Look at her pretend to know the answer, intelligent gibberish won't save you this time!
7. Is it a woman? Engineering? Is that a thong?
8. You sure she's not our classmate playing lecturer instead?
9. STOP STANDING IN FRONT OF THE WHITE BOARD... we can't see!
10. Faster... faster... come on! I wanna go home!

My boss, asked me to take over her class today. I know these kids well having taught them lab *yeah about a year younger than me really :P I had this warm fuzzy feeling in my heart when they said 'We didn't know crap before this, tq tq' and applause at the end of class.

MY DILEMMA

Happiness *I love to work/teach/takes up my time

VS

Brilliance *I spend that time studying and achieve academic excellence & the school of choice for PhD

ps: Your new system may last for the duration until another engineer designs a new one and tears it down. What is left of it to remember my contribution? Whereas, the effects of teaching will snowball from one student to the next generation and so on! I will be remembered for ETERNIIIITTTTTYYYYYY!!!! To infinity and Beyond! Okay, a lil dramatic :P

*Day 5.4 Borobudur*

One of the most memorable spots I visited in Jogja was the world famous Borobudur! I was absolutely touched that my tour guide went through pains to get me a UNESCO appointed Borobudur expert.

He was extremely easy to talk to. He was even a photography enthusiast thus it was just lovely hopping about snapping photos until my camera chooses to die :))

I learnt so much about life in those 2 hours spent exchanging thoughts with this man. He was very intelligent and witty. We debated on the meaning of life *yeah hippie style... the differences and similarities in all religions... the reason why $$$ is not enough a reason to live the ordinary lifestyle!

Borobudur is of multilayers. Each layer represents Buddha's path to enlightenment really. How he sheds his attachment to all thing material in the quest to attain moksha *nirvana. The layers of the stupa *the bell shaped bits have so much meaning to it as well. Looking closely one can detect the difference in the stupas of each layer. Thing is, while there are hundreds of Buddha statues, most are beheaded due to the effect of colonization. The heads were taken as 'soviniers' and spread around the world. THERE'S ONE IN PENANG!

When heading to Jogja, it is a spot not to be missed!

Thus ends my days in Jogja...I will return one day, it clearly was my favourite stop in Indonesia

People were so artsy fartsy, cultured, well read

Everything is super cheap!

I got to do alot of thinking/pondering here... its a very different world :)

ps: Side effect of being a globe trotter... my dreams as I snore are pretty wacky and out of this world! I've done and seen so much stuff this past year... the sights in my dreams are pretty reflective of times spent absorbing scenes, sounds and smells :))

Its a very different experience travelling on ones own, people just gravitate towards you and speak to you. I've had conversations from ministers to loo cleaners last for hours. There's always something you can learn from another person. There's always a story.

* Delicious Irony *
All I can say is... just a lil while ago... it was I that sat there... it was I that slogged all night... it was I keeping it up *pls god don't cancel my scholarship!... I skipped classes... ran in just to sign the attendance... it was I that giggled at tutors arses... it was I that never paid attention when I clearly should have... it was ME ON THE OTHER SIDE!

Now it is I who sits infront... I wiggle in my skirt distributing papers... I get the puppy eyes from final year kids 'Miss.Prem, pls help me...I donno how to do'... I write the remaining time + motivational quotes on the board *I'm so short!

HOW THE BLOODY HELL DID I GET HERE SO SOON?

ps: Believe me when I say I wanted to scream when I actually got test papers the day before sealed in an envelope... IN MY HANDS!!! Heheh, what wouldn't I have done to do so just a while ago. In all seriousness... it was an out of body experience.

pps: Porkchops mum asks 'How ah, Prem...you got into UM's staff... thousands on waiting list?' Mindy replies 'Prem's got a level of bonkers none of the others have'... Geez thanks girl :)) Really, never thought I'd end up as one of those ' nerds '. Ah well, at least I refuse to look like one :P

*Batu Caves Banana Leaf*
Okay, I've got a big decision to make... Life changing one! The Kandiahs round up at my house the night before to discuss and we've narrowed down exactly what I need! Thus, I've been grabbing all the men around me to help me with the best I can find... I THINK I'VE FOUND THE RIGHT ONE! Lets see if it will be 'The One!'

After spending the entire day 'hunting' in the blazing hot hot hot sun... sunburnt and hungy, we head to Batu Caves for lunch. It's been ages since I've had banana leaf... in fact haven't had one all this year! I've never been there for lunch before and its fantastic to have a look at the Golden Muruga without the tremendous amounts of ant sized people around it as with Thaipusam :P

We hop into Amutha's, my review... a lil expensive but the food is delish! Kolumbu *curry was spicy. The thairu *yogurt was sour. THE DRINKS ARE EVEN BETTER! I loved their coffee :) The best part of the experience was how nice and humble the waiters were. For once it had nothing to do with the fact that I had boobies... they were genuinely nice :) None of that 'splat the food on the banana leaf' air about them!

Everytime I see potatoes... all I can think of is the moment in LOTR when Gollum says 'What 's tatoes precious...what's tatoes! Boil em, Mash em, Stew em. Stupid fat hobbit!' :)) Yeah yeah total nerd moment.

ps: I FORGOT TO MENTION... IT'S VEGETARIAN ONLY :P

*Steamboat*
Its been an absolutely fabulous weekend and to top it off me and She Who is Gay & Mighty head to Sunway for the all famous Flaming Steamboat! Some people have great tale worthy romances... I have my grande adventure saga filled with twists and turns friendship with Gaya. We've been 'sisters' for half our lives :)) Coming from a girls school, one has certain principles when it comes to friendship. Call it hoes before bros... call it loyalty. I know its something only the lucky few find!

I've kept that standard all through university. As a teen one assumes all women stand united! Yes, being a woman with an outrageous personality makes me the perfect target for gossip. I was burned constantly especially by women of my own kind! ALL MY FREAKING ADULT LIFE! I didn't understand why some women feel the need to bitch! LACKING IN CONFIDENCE MUCH? JEALOUS MUCH? Some think better of themselves, then behave just as badly because they have been mistreated *tsk tsk tsk.

Through the years I've made alot of girlfriends but I've come to a realization that as with romance the lovey dovey 'Oh, we are so BFF's! Lets take photos together! Oh my dear,I miss you! We have such an emotionally charged friendship...now lets hug, kiss and make up!' is pure dribble... I've seen those friendships fade... loyalty tested and destroyed because of minor issues... it lasts while the situation is convinient. God knows some women don't ever experience girlfriend-om being physically attached to their boy/manfriends 24/7 :)) I pity the fool!

I expect loyalty because I deliver so... I will help you though you seem a crappy friend... someone isn't nice to you... I will rally behind you! Your enemy is mine! May not make sense to me but I trust you! My closest friends at times have not proven to return the same level of loyalty... Gaya, yes! She'll burn the hair off anyone thats pissed me off! No questions asked! My friendship with Gaya has stood the test of men, women, bimbos, nerds, hunks, school, tuition, time... Sure we don't see each other as often...Through it all, we've achieved a great deal together. I'm so proud to stand tall together as we step into a new phase of life soon!

Gaya: Prem, you know we're gonna have crushes on our significant others don't you? I swear to never act on it! Now thats real friendship!

*I'm an alotta-stuff-aholic*
Okay, show of hands to all women that have diligently studied the Shopaholic series and have had midnight candle light dinner fantasies with their 'Luke Brandon'! Woot Wooooot!

He's sexy! Manly Man! Tall! Absolutely Confident! Broad Shouldered! Suited up! Slight tinge of tortured soul! HE SCREAMS HOTSTUFF! Very much along the line of Mr.Big of Sex & The City. Bottom line is...ME LIKEY...ME LIKEY VERY VERY MUCH :)

When I heard Hugh Dancy had been cast as my tall glass of handsome... I was like 'WHAT?' NoOoOoOo... come on, I think he's just yum...okay, crazy yum in Burberry ads but he's no Luke Brandon of Brandon Communications! Though, I love his usual just got out of bed tossed curls, we'd make cute babies together :P

Here's my pick for my dream Luke *wipes drool off floor while wonders 'Where the hell is my Luke clone hiding?'

Hugh Jackman *really need I explain :P

ps: I'VE SEEN THE MOVIE! Love the clothes + hair *When will Asian movies catch up with the world on volumised curls... flat straight greasy hair isn't in! You speak PRADA? The plot...not so much, bit of a let down really. So much material to work with! I'd prefer it set in London obviously. Becky didn't get enough 'I'm a bimbo with a brain' moments!

1. LOVE HER BOOTS!!! Especially the red ones!
2. LOVE HER TRENCH COAT *I still think my ZARA one is gorgeous but Burberry makes the best ones
3. LOVE HER BLUE POOFY DRESS *I want one in Glam Diva Purple!
4. LOVE HER LAPPIE *Dammit, there are female engineers! Yes, I googled it! RED Lappie!
5. LOVE HIS LOOK at the end, tossled hair + black coat!

Sometimes I feel that people have a fab sense of fashion... a flair for style... BUT ARE AFRAID TO EMBRACE THEIR QUIRKINESS! They rather blend in and look 'normal'. Come on, your clothes define you! They tell the world how you feel! Show how ridiculously good looking you must feel :))

pps: After hunting across the globe for the perfect one... I GOT MY SIGNATURE SEXY HIGH WAISTED SKIRT *this seasons must have!!! I wore it with the perfect black satin top + red studded belt + oxford boots +sparkly chunky necklace to work! My bum obviously looks fab in it! Whooopppiiieee... now I am complete :)

FINE! FINE!
I AM NOW A RECESSIONISTA!
I will be frugal!
I will keep count of my $$$!

I'll bask in the glory of mannequins applauding my resistance to those glorious dresses instead :)

*Freeeeeebies!* BORDERS
*Bloody hell, anyone else was stuck in KL till 11pm after the 'Great Storm of 2009' on Tuesday? OMG!!! My cousin's home, Sentul! Poor thing!

Okay, being one that believes in never having to pay money for books that aren't 'life pondering' -ish... I LOVE BORDERS! After 2 weeks of intense preparation for my extremely scientific midterms... I JUST WANTED to read a bit of fun... fluff... girly stuff that doesn't necessarily require me staring into the beyond wondering about the meaning of life and all :P

Yeah I don't want to pay rm30++ perbook for simpleton books so WHAT DO I DO? HEAD TO STARBUCKS! It's attached right next to BORDERS in THE CURVE and allows readers to grab any 3 books to read as long as you wish! HOW FAB IS THAT!

I DECIDED TO TAKE THE WHOLE DAY OFF! W.H.O.L.E D.A.Y! YEAH! So there I go, slipping into a comfy dress so I can sprawl myself across their comfy large sofas... I head down there after lunch and snuggle into a cozy spot with a Grande Green Tea Frapp!

ps:If you're into the classics... the music at Starbucks is fab too!

pps: Universiti Malaya..the Oxford of Malaysia... though not of standard *the understatement of the century... its what local Malaysians strive for. The greats of Malaysia studied here. Malaysian leaders are made here. Power house of an alumni.

It's weird to be given the opportunity to teach/study here today. I am humbled by the worldly lecturers but I have an immense sense of pride because it means its not just my MUM that believes I HAVE A BRAIN :)) The best of the best believe I'm up for it! With that confidence I believe in conquering the most complex mindboggling engineering formulations! *means I'm just lazy lor... got brain but don't want to use it.

The students are like no other... about the same level of kiasu-ness of NUS kids because they have worked their butts off all their lives to get in. They have clawed their way in. I love teaching them, bouncing new ideas off them, getting their opinions because I BLOODY CLAWED MY WAY HERE! I may not show the stress within but believe me when I say it makes a 9-5pm job easy peasy *Yes, done them both and made a valid comparison. Blood, sweat and tears. CHEERS TO HOPES WE REGAIN OUR FORMER GLORY! Yeah la... I'm still a MMUian at heart :P

*Jai Hind - Potato & Peas Dhall Man marry me?*

Jai Hind
15 to 17, Jalan Melayu
Kuala Lumpur

Foodie porker 1 : Das BooBoo Wabbit

Foodie porker 2 : Das GooGly Woogly Candyman

Foodie porker 3 : Oh So Divalicious Prem

As a child, we knew that as vegetarians on Fridays, its the day we'd have some yummy yum yum capati and onion kolumbu *red spicy curry. My mum worked in Masjid India for years and on her way to the LRT *just 2 mins away, she's stop by JAI HIND to grab the family dinner.

Where do I begin? How about even though its just plain capati, the curry is sooooo good its orgasmic! Their naan soft and fluffy just the way I like it *also I always smile kaaaacchhhiiing & get extra cheese and garlic :P It's so good that during my year in Melaka, I'd travel home with MMU pals and Jai Hind would be our lunch stop after craving for delish curry.

Why is it different from any other Indian spots? Its more of a Punjabi/Gujerati cuisine spot. The curry is thicker. Less oily. The milk is sweeter. The curd is more sour. The sweets are milkier! These days after a week of hustle and bustle... I love winding down with family late Friday nights :) It's really cheap & healthy too!

ps: MY ULTIMATE FAV... THE BEST I'VE HAD! THEIR TEH HALIA with SUSU LEMBU... Lord, mmmmmmm slurp!

*Mushy Gibberish*
Being a woman thats constantly...I MEAN CONSTANTLY surrounded by a pack of boys/men does make you 'One of the boys!' - ish. Thing is, I've always been a girly girl... yes, I HATE pants.... LOVE dresses/skirts/anything that twirls like the queen I clearly am :P Physically I'm as girly as you can get!

I think being in this profession has caused me my 'feminity' in terms of mentality. I'm extremely cynical when it comes to the affairs of the heart. I don't do the drama queen. I think rationally in tense situations. I hate gossip. I don't do the lovey dovey. I don't do cuddly wuddly. I don't do whiney cries either. In fact I very very rarely shed a tear except when I'm so freaking angry. Maybe its because I'm a happy person *I don't mean it like people that say it but truly are deeply troubled inside! It's not that I'm hard to love just I believe in it being for keeps. I date, I don't do boyfriends until I know its going to last. Googly woogly is just euphoria from the early stages of a relationship. I want what my parents have!

So if you're reading this... You're a very good looking chap. The best I've seen in a while. Yeap, we could do a Bollywood based musical one day. I had the most perfect date amongst the stars *I totally thought that only happened in movies :)) You have the best sense of fashion thus my girlfriends would totally brand you hottie! Treats me like the ultimate princess *its like my Jane Austen fantasies! Dish out $$$ for the things I truly adore even though they aren't your fancy *I said I can pay for myself :P

But... The way you wait as I walk away makes me absolutely uncomfortable. The fact that you wait on me makes me uncomfortable. Stop peering into my eyes... darn soul searching. You do just about every ridiculous thing to get a happy laugh. You're a fabulous looking man and yet its me you want? I think you're too nice for me. I don't do 'You are my moon, I am your stars'. I'm more of a eternal love carved deep in my heart and I will smother you with smiles forever! I'm programmed like a man when it comes to 'lurve stuff'. I LOVE MY INDEPENDENCE SO MUCH. I love having to answer to no one. I love only worrying about my future. Maybe the right man will change that. So for now, I say its not me you want.

ps: Men always want me for 'motivational' purposes once they get past the giggly exterior since I'm a workaholic/study-aholic/multijob-aholic. Problem...is it shallow of me to want someone that makes ME better instead?

OH YEAH! I'M GOING TO PRINCESS ON ICE!!!
OMG OMG!

I freaking love Disney... kiss my button if you're too cool for it :P
